Keeping the Love Alive

An ongoing project for any photographer is “keeping the love alive” and for myself, this has taken the form of going back to film. I dug my fathers old film cameras out of the basement, got two out of three of them working again, and with much fiddling and puttering, am up a running on 35mm and medium format film. For some, taking photos for personal projects in the .RAW format and sending hours in photoshop just isn’t hitting the spot anymore. Practicing photography in the more raw sense is growing in popularity for a good reason. Feeling the mechanical operation of a camera which runs on not batteries, but your skill and intuition, is precisely what keeps the love alive for many of us.

Below is a video which would instruct some on how to follow on a similar path – or otherwise provide a glimpse into what the hell I am talking about. This is my exciting new project, the Mamiya C220 medium format camera; how it works, and how to operate it.
